What do most expensive materials, precious stones, Rihanna, Brigitte Bardot, Catherine the Great, Alexander the Great, velvet, lace, wool, silk, trips to England, Italy, Japan, Russia, flowers, palm trees, architectural monuments, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso have in common? All of them inspired Manolo Blahnik to create his outstanding shoes. The exhibition covering 45 years of work of the famous shoes designer opened in the Hermitage. DLT, a shopping mall in St Petersburg, and Manolo Blahnik International LTD helped with the event. It consists of 6 parts which are called: Nature, Gala, Art and architecture, Core, Geographical Influences and Materials.

All in all, over 200 shoes and 30 sketches are on display.

The designer said that Russian ballerinas Anna Pavlova and Tamara Tumanova inspired him as well as Catherine the Great. If you want to purchase the shoes by Manolo Blahnik, the average price is about $1200. The most expensive pair of the new collection is $5000.
