This unique traveling exhibition unites 200 jury selected photographs from photojournalists around the world. The exhibition travels to over 45 countries and 100 cities to showcase some of these photographs as part of the competition to over 2 million eager viewers. The 57th annual final was held in Amsterdam in February 2014.

World Press Photo Contest determines professional standards in the field. The independent jury consists of professional photographers and media photo editors. There were 9 different nominations for the World Press Photo 2014 Contest. Over 5,500 photographers from 132 countries of the world have presented their work to the jury. About 100,000 photographs were evaluated in the course of a fortnight by the specialists.

From the World Press Photo 2014 winners, John Stanmeyer (USA) won first prize – The Photo of the Year – with his image showing African Migrants holding up their mobile phone up on the seashore in Djibouti trying to catch a mobile signal to get connection with their relatives in Somali.

This year 53 photographers from 25 countries: Australia, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Check republic, Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Palestine, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Great Britain and USA- have received prizes in 9 nominations.

Danila Tkachenko who has presented to the contest a series of images about hermits, who live separated from society in wild places surrounded by divine nature. He was awarded first place in the Portrait Nomination.

Nikita Shokhov took third place in the same nomination with his series of images about the Island of Utrische, a nature park in the in the south of Russia on the northern end of the Black Sea which is experiencing its Renaissance after a period of complete oblivion.

Elena Chernyshova has presented to the contest a series of images of Norilsk and received third place in the Everyday Life Nomination.
