After a renovation of 6 weeks, the Pavilion Hall featuring the infamous Peacock Clock has re-opened.
The Peacock Clock, the biggest automatic moving timepiece in the world, has been one of the Hermitage’s famous symbols.
James Cox of Britain, a famous jeweler from the 1770’s built the clock and sold it to Catherine the Great to add to the Hermitage collection.
The peacock, owl and rooster move on the hour, but the clock is only wound for special affairs now.
A video screen next to the clock shows visitors the clock in action.
To commemorate the re-opening at the Pavilion, a 360 degree video is posted online for all to see the workings of this beautiful, automated clock.
